I have an overhead lamp that is controlled by two switches (the infamous 3-way switches).
When I replaced one of them with a 3-way dimmer swich over the weekend, I messed up some of the functionality of the setup. Now, the non-dimmer switch will only affect the light if the dimmer switch is already set to on.
State table:
dimmer switch on, normal switch off, lamp on
dimmer switch on, normal switch on, lamp ON
dimmer switch off, normal switch off, lamp off
dimmer switch off, normal switch on, lamp OFF
The bolded ones should be reversed. It is worth noting that on the dimmer switch, I have a red lead and two white/black leads. Reversing the white/black leads did not seem to affect the issue (but I may have not secured it well). The red lead is hooked to the red terminal on the switch.
Anyone have any ideas for what to try? I am under the assumption that if I leave normal switch alone, I can make it work from the dimmer side by switching leads around, I just don't know what to do!
