Need more info:

1
What CD is it?

2

<< and i can't copy it to save my life even with cloneCD. >>

What exactly does this mean? Coasters?

3
Some system specs would be nice, especially the burner.

4
What brand media?

Can't help you unless you elaborate just a bit more dude.

Is both your burner and reader cdrom compatible with CloneCD?

Prolly a stupid question since you already tried... but CloneCD seems to be able to copy... err 'backup' - anything I throw at it.

Plextor that is clone CD compatible, media doesn't make a difference. It does copy without errors but the copy doesn't work(should have said that in the begining hehe).

what are you copying ???

PC Game ?? PC App ?? Playstation game ???

may need a patch on the software, if the copy is done without errors.

media does make a difference.... don't take this personal, but you aren't trying to copy an 80 min. CD onto anything but an 80 min. CDR are you ?? Just a shot in the dark.

I'll volunteer to ask a coherent question:

I was recently trying to burn a copy of MS FlightSim 2000 that I bought for my uncle. The latest Nero+Plextor12/10/32A couldn't make an .ISO image of the CD, it failed from the start.

I'm sure I know why: M$FT deliberately damaged a few sectors of the CD, to make copying more painful. It's apparently common practice. The Plextor tries and retries, but cannot read a damaged sector.

How do you get around that?

I'm no expert in the matter but I'll try a guess. I know that you can backup some dreamcast games, but what about ones that use up a full GB? You couldn't possibly copy that to a 800MB cd.

Alright, i'm not going into the whole software piracy thing, but beware that you've opened the door.

Which game ???

Some games can't be copied, or you lose some sound, etc..

Have you copied DC games on your setup before or is this your first one ??

Try using Nero..

Click on Copy cd, and select where you wan't to put the image file. Under the read options tab you see a box called data tracks, under unreadable data select Continue copying. Under both data mode1 and data mode2, select force raw reading - and in the drop down menu select write uncorrected for both.

Burn the CD

It is best to make a Image to the hard drive first as i haven't had any problems with any of the cd's i have tried using those settings..

MS Games are SafeDisc Protected..... use CloneCD and the only option you turn on is Fast Error Skip..... It will have alot of thoose bad sectors at first... Just ignore them and then use CloneCD to write the disk.

Hominid: thanks, i'll try that.

Also you NEED to use RAW DAO to write SafeDisc CDs in CloneCD.... Nero wont copy SafeDisc from my experience.

Sure CAK.... however you want to justify it's fine with me.

so, what game is it ?? and have you done it on your PC before or is this the first time ??

I take it you have the image already on your hard drive, right ??

edit to add : I think that Hominid was responding to Leo V, if you are sticking the DC Game into your CD drive and trying to get the image that way, then you have a lot more reading and research to do.
