mind you not a really bad accident.

so today was a pretty terrible day. work wasn't bad it was actually shaping up to be a good day then disaster.

so i am heading to the gym, and need to change lane, check blind spot. cant go, look forward. OMG all of the traffic towards the freeway onramp is stalled because of rain. hit brakes.

too late. too much rain, hit stopped car in front of me. probably was going 10mph at the point of hitting her. the kicker is this.

i hit a late 90s chrysler concorde in the rear. messed up her license plate frame and left a few paint scrapes.

my car on the other hand, has a smashed grill, shattered front xenon headlight, the hood is totally bent out of shape (its aluminum , lightere and LESS strong yes!) and the left front quarterpanel is kind of bent out of shape. i need a new bumper cover too since it shattered.

granted i didnt feel a thing since my car basically took all the damage. its a wonder though, my 3 month old state of the art car crumbles like tin foil and an 8 year old chrysler can take a beating.

anyway it was totally my fault, and i'm hoping to be able to just pay for her damage (which cant be more than $200) out of pocket. i'm hoping she's a nice person and she seemed like one. sadly my deductible is $1000, but luckily my dad's friend owns his own body shop so we shall see.

anyhow, i'm an idiot, but this puts things in perspective. it really is only money.

Ah thats sh!tty man.. but I know what it's like to have japanese car.. I was at a hockey game one night.. as I was leaving the parking lot some fvcking kid cut in front of me and I had to swerve not to hit him.. ended up hitting the corner of an FX4 F250.. i was going slow so I thought no big deal..

The entire quarter panel was pushed in.. stupid lightweight paneling.

Sorry to hear that, for having a good taste in cars and for taking it like man, and not trying to find excuses. Been in the same situation many times, luckily was able to stop just short of hitting the person in front.

If you are in that situation 'many times' you are doing something wrong.

My buddy hit a little SUV with his brand new Acura TSX and did 11K damage, while her SUV basically only got a bent bumper. I think the "crumple zones" work in new cars, but end up screwing you over in repair costs. (it was her fault though, so her insurance paid).

You must not live in tri-state area if you've never been in that situation. Here, you might be driving on the highway at 40 mp/h and then all of a sudden all traffic stops and you have to slam on the breaks. If you happen to be looking in rear view mirror, or checking over your shoulder at the time, you wouldn't have much time to react.

If you haven't hit anything, you are doing something correctly

well i guess now that i've calmed down it doesn tlook as bad as i thought, though you cant tell the inside of the headlight is cracked up, or that the left quarterpanel is on crooked now.

if you notice on pic 31 the blue mark, and the gray mark. the blue is the paint from her car, and the gray is her license plate scraping.
her car has almost no damge.
