Wait.. so you are saying gas is NOT as high as $3.49 right now? I thought it was all $5 everywhere

It's not hard. It's called reading.

Where Engineer is in Kentucky just went to $3.49

Suburbs of Chicago just went to $3.79

City of Chicago $3.99 and some stations now $4.05

Obviously now heading towards $5 quickly.

At this rate could pass $5 and be heading towards $6

Chicago PD are on high alert for riots that are sure to break out.

News just had on that they are talking about not only opening up U.S. Oil reserves but other country oil reserves as well because of the Iran Strait crisis.

But there is no shortage of oil anywhere.

Prices are high strictly because of greed.

Gasoline prices start the year at a high — and rising

Gas prices are the highest ever for this time of year, and analysts predict that motorists will be digging deep in 2012 to fuel their vehicles.

Not only are we worrying about the end of the world in 2012 — thanks, Maya calendar makers — but this also may be the year of the gas-pocalypse, analysts warn.

That's because gasoline prices are the highest ever for the start of the year, and they're on the rise, supercharged by expensive oil and changes in refinery operations.

This year's gasoline prices could be significantly higher than in previous years, said Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst for the Oil Price Information Service.

I see nowhere in the OP that the OP predicted that gas would be above $4.00 right now? I saw a "perhaps in the summer of last year", which it did (at least here and other places). It's at an ALL TIME HIGH for this time of year and from my perspective, it's rising (some others are currently falling). Since it did hit $4.00 this past summer, I see no reason why it won't considering the geopolitical tensions with Iran and the fact that we're starting out much higher than previous year.

And if anyone thinks that the high gas (especially diesel which stayed at $4.00 here until just a few weeks ago) isn't hurting the economy, they're crazy.

/404 - funny not found.

It's been over $4 many times in Chicago and is in fact over $4 for regular at many stations once again in downtown Chicago.

It's not far from $4 in burbs now and climbing fast.

That they are but your initial statement said that gas prices were falling but you left out the "here" insinuating that they are falling across the country. Sadly, they are not everywhere (especially here). With that said, regardless, they are at an ALL TIME HIGH for this time of year.

By the way, your graph looks alot like Lexington, KY's prior to 3 week ago when we went down to $2.95. I wonder if the graphs from the rest of the country will now revert to look like what we look like for the past 3 weeks or so.

How can the price of gasoline go down. The new largest export of this country is refined petroleum products.

Yep, drill baby drill is really going to get those prices down. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Now if they would just let the tar sand oil pipeline be built, oil prices are going to go to rock bottom.

and mcowned constantly assumes his one station near the airport sample is enough to indicate the entire country is $9 a gallon.
