Yeah, gas prices are slowly, SLOWLY, going down in price, but even so they are still overpriced compared to oil prices which hit $80 mark yesterday and will fall even more today based on the oil futures so far.

Oil down below $81 per barrel. Gas in Lexington dropped $0.09 yesterday to $3.39.

By the way, if oil had went up as much as it went down over the last few days, gas would have spiked $0.30 easily.

Could be worse. Could have Asia, Europe, or some of S America's gas prices. We've got it pretty good.

I wonder if these gas prices GOING DOWN is just a smoke screen to hide how bad things really are getting?

As the thread title says, gas prices are one of the primary reasons the U.S. economy is in the shit hole it is.

It's not the only reason but thing would not be quite as bad had the oil thug industry not raise the price like they did.

That article is so idiotic. Who the hell still thinks world can sustain $100, let alone $125bbl oil?

Thats probably like $150-160 brent.

Our economy can grow at $80...maaaaybe $90, buy anything more, economy will be hurt. Someone needs to update the prediction of vaulted world oil consumption because it was a theory formed back when we had money to spare after filling our tanks and paying our energy bills

404 - Silver lining not found (again). Those "high price" countries have huge gasoline taxes. Regardless, our prices are too high and the OP, as it stands, was correct in that it was a catalyst that killed the economy (again).

Also, those nations have those prices largely because of taxes. That still makes it painful at the pump, but the extra money goes into government where ideally it would otherwise be replaced with other tax money.

Wow, all those profits Illinois gas stations have been wracking up especially over $4 gas in Chicago and they haven't been paying taxes on the sales.

Gas Stations Owe State Of Illinois Millions Of Dollars

Illinois is apparently due million of dollars from some of the State’s 24-hundred gas station operators.

More than one-fourth of Illinois gas station operators have reportedly pocketed millions in sales tax dollars by under-reporting the amount of fuel they sell to the public.

Over night several more stations dropped their prices, now 4 of 6 station are below the $3.00/gal. Prices are ranging from $2.89/gal to $3.12/gal.
Wow!

I saw gas in Chattanooga for under $3.30 this weekend, although I bought it at Murphy for $3.36. (Comes from Arkansas.)

The United States Navy will be transitioning to having nearly/over 35% of its oil-based energy consumption to bio-fuels in the next several years.

It's not just hard on civilians, but also on the military. However, good signs point to radically changing reliance on fossil fuels for the defense engine that serves as protection programs around the world. Since most of anything we have was developed for the military, I think it's good to keep good hopes on R&D projects from DARPA, universities and businesses, to change the way we burn fuel(s).

WTF Gas prices?

I've seen gas as low as $3.05 over the past week or 2... why has it jumped 44 cents today?

was 3.49 on my way to work and was 3.05 on my way home yesterday.
