I just returned from the grocery store and I could swear that between the time I entered and left, the price on the electronic sign at the store's gas station jumped up ten cents.

The wealth required for a vehicle like that is such that gas prices are not a substantial part of his income. Gas, like a tax on cigarettes, doesn't track up with your income (as you know), so if he's making $250k/year (isn't that around 2%?) gas just isn't all that relevant. I'm sure that thing guzzles gas like a mother@*#$er, though. High gas prices just really don't matter for the well to do anymore than $7 gallon milk would.

That is funny. Homer now claims that an increase in U.S. field production oil is because of Obama, even when it was going up before he became president. It must be magic or the spew from a partisan hack. Too bad you can't run a car on spew.

What's also funny is I never said or hinted that. In case u didn't know Obama wasn't in office until Jan 09. My point was Obama has done nothing to stifle oil production like the rabies infected GOP attack dogs are claiming.

Yeah, because loving your country is a bad thing. Show me a country that has done more for its citizenry and the world than the United States. Do we have our flaws, sure, but you cannot deny the fact that the United States has been a force for good in the world. Do we fuck up and do stupid self serving shit? No and no. My wife owns her own home health/health care supply business that does very well and I have a good job that most of the time I enjoy.

Here is the part that will kill Dave, my family owns oil and gas wells as well as a petroleum products distribution business and a propane business.

Notice how it has been steadily climbing since 2008. So much for blame Obama. Republicans are keeping up the manta of drill baby drill. They forget to tell people we are participants in the world oil market. US production isn't the problem either.

Here's the problem, something I've been bitching about for over 5 years, speculators. That 1% who do nothing but make money off money and don't product an actual product.

Found out only 1/3 of participants on the oil commodities market are actual end users of oil. The other 2/3s are banks and oil contract speculators. These people smell blood because of tensions in the Middle East buying up oil futures/contracts driving up the price. The real end users of oil are forced to get in in an attempt to limit their future costs due to rising contract prices. Meanwhile the oil companies take advantage twice by their extra profit on those contracts and by raising gas prices in advance of the added cost of oil.

Meanwhile who gets screwed by this, middle class and poorer people. Great scam where the 1% can siphon off money from the 99%.

We need to get non end users of oil out of the commodities market.

BTW - Anyone mention how Republicans are in favor of Isreal attacking Iran now which could raise the price of gas to $7/gal.

there are more rigs working the US right now than in the rest of the world combined.

so there really isn't that much more to do.

also, the southern extension for the pipeline from cushing to houston is being built (doesn't require further permits, apparently) and it is widely expected by anyone with a whit of intelligence that the cross border portion will be approved sometime after the election.
