If you pay $5.59 at the pump do you say you paid $4.21 because it is $4.21 somewhere else?

Thanks for answering my question, you would pay the $5.59/gal even though gas is far cheaper in the area. You must have a stupid phone right?

Yea because all city dwellers are stupid to you

Dave probably also believes that car rental companies actually pay $6/gal if they have to fill the tank when you return it empty...

Where pray tell did I say that? First you resort to personal attacks, now you've starting trying to put words in other people's mouths.

Why would you ever fill up in the city rather than running your tank low, and filling up just outside it? Or, just not having a car? Public transpo within Chicago isn't too bad, do you really need a car?

Exactly which town do you live in and what is your commute route/distance?

I refuse to believe every decent gas station you pass costs that much (I'd believe some jacked up ones in the city gouge/gouge+city price premium).

Because they contribute to the "National Average" you and your rabid buds hold so dear.

So wait, you are quoting LA because they contribute to the national average? Why don't you just quote the national average? Oh wait, we already know the answer to that.

You're embarrassing yourself, stop.

Still half the price of Europe
Cheap by every measure, higher prices will be persistant going forward, its why my last two vehicle purchase were a Versa and a Altima, 4 cyl vehicles. I'm keeping the old minivan like a truck for the odd occasion I have to haul something
They aren't cheap by every measure; they are historically very high by US ones, even if cheaper than Europe.

I agree with your sentiment regarding vehicles, though. Only a buffoon buys a gas guzzler now unless they are ok with paying ever-increasing amounts into the gas tank. I moved one of my cars to a hybrid a while back. There are a lot of people who think they need a three row vehicle and/or something else massive and/or too prideful to buy a hybrid, however, so they continue to feel far more pain as gas goes up than they would if they behaved like a rational adult.

Then perhaps you should quote the national average, or the average for LA. I mean, are Chicago's gas not high enough to placate your mass hysteria you now cherrypick some other place?

Gas still at $4.21/gal a mere 5 blocks away, so only ignorant fucks would be paying your cherry picked price.

He didn't say that all urbanites were stupid. He said that he considered those that would pay an exorbitantly higher price when you could pay a lower price for the same product just a few blocks away substandard. Nobody in their right mind is going to search out to pay the highest price possible for identical goods.

New Question: How will the rise in gasoline prices affect the U.S. auto industry?

Wasn't a large decrease in consumer demand for gas guzzling SUVs and pickup trucks part of what hurt the U.S. auto industry several years ago?

It's obvious that you have reading comprehension issues. I said anyone that would pay $5.69/gal vs. 4.21/gal was an ignorant fuck specially when the cheaper gas was just 5 blocks away.

If I remember right it hurt mostly GM and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep. They did not have any small gas efficient cars worth while. I figure GM would be in a much better position this time around with cars like the Cruz. If I remember right Ford did fine with cars like the focus that were selling like hot cakes.

Ford has a new version of the Fiesta out.

I will clap at the pumps when I watch giant Pickup truck and SUV owners shelling out well over $100 to fill up.
