Need some serious fly control. But the fly traps I've seen online are either atrocious looking or from what I've been reading, smell really bad. I've got a small yard and don't really have a place to hang those traps without them being unsightly or you can smell them. My subdivision is surrounded by fields, we're like a little island. Any suggestions?

What kind of flies/what's attracting them? Growing up, we always had a ton because my parents had big dogs and dog crap in the yard. That's one of the reasons I won't ever own a dog.

Like already mentioned, we need to know which type of fly. You'll need to poison or destroy the area in which they breed. So if this isn't on your property, good luck!

You need to decide aesthetics or fly removal.

There are multiple options for making your own traps; most are very inexpensive.

However, until you remove the breeding area; they will return.

Hmmm. I'm not sure what type. They're black, bigger than fruit flies, but not particularly huge like horse flies. We have 2 dogs, we're pretty good about picking up their shit, but my neighbors have like 3 dogs that for the most part stay indoors, but I'm sure they're shitting outside. The fly problem is outside, where we built our patio cover, which is pretty close to the neighbors with the dogs, so the flies are either from our dogs, or the neighbors.

They pretty much look like this I'd guess. Maybe not the red eyes, but they're body isn't really reflective or shiny like some of the other images I searched.

There's a saying about flies and shit.....:p

You can try and clean up after your dogs but the neighbor probably won't. You'll need some type of trap or insecticide. Wonder if malathion would work? Keeps my mosquitoes down if I spray regularly with the burgess fogger.

Well I think I might have to go with this:

http://www.amazon.com/Flies-Be-Gone...=UTF8&qid=1433951899&sr=8-7&keywords=fly+trap

The problem is I don't have a place to hang it w/out it being unseen or without detecting the smell most likely.

I can't find a decent place to hang the trap unless I put it on the left side of the house where the swing set is. The problem area is on the right side where both my dogs are usually kept, and the neighbors. Which also is where the breeze comes in to the patio area. So any smells would come from there to where we mostly hang out.

Edit: The neighbors also have all kinds of fly tape hanging down from their patio cover. It's freakin gross.

Use google for homemade solutions.

Many can just sit outside on the ground of be inside a pot.
