ONe movie starts at 7 on one channel, the other at 8 on a different one?

Did not know if the hard drive could keep up with that

Of course it can. I know people who have 3-4 tuners in MCE boxes.

It's just a computer with a HD and a couple tuners...not much difference besides the sucky OSes on CableCo DVRs.

i don't think comcast DVR can record 2 at the same time. it does have 2 tuners so you can record one to your pvr and one to your VCR.

I'm certain your free dvr only has one tuner.
Sorry dude.
Even if it has two tuners, you'd only be able to record two channels while watching one of the channels you're recording.

This is the dual-tuner HD box, right? Yes, it can record two shows at once, I do it all the time. Just schedule the two shows, and it will take care of the rest. You can even record 2 shows and watch a third you've already recorded.

If it's an Explorer 8300 (which I believe comcast uses), it can record 2 shows at once. And watch a recorded show.

Obviously. You would need 3 tuners to record 2 shows and watch a 3rd ;)

like has been hinted above... if it has 2 tuners it can record 2 things at once. Or record one thing and watch a different channel live.

i'm moving soon and will get comcast dvr again, so i'll try it again.

if it's like TIVO, you can record one show, put the machine into standyby, change the channel on your TV, and watch the 2nd movie live.

Cool, what phase is yours? I had a phase I, but it broke this weekend, went in and exchanged it for a brand new phase III model, the picture looks a lot clearer with the phase III model, im impressed.

Depends on if you have/want to record HD or need 2 tuners. Personally, I'd get one from your CableCo then ditch it once CableCARD Tivos and other PVRs start coming out.
