got court date today....and advice?

for my first speeding ticket. what should i do? how should i act? does what i wear matter? im wearing a sweater and dress pants (slacks) now. i wanna make it so that i dont get any points on my insurance. its 19mph over limit so thats like 4 points, right?

Personally, I would wear a suit. Depending upon state, 19 over could be considered reckless driving.

Just hope the cop doesn't show up.

Dress nicely, refer to the judge as "your honor", maintain comfortable eye contact, explain that it is your first offense and you'd like to find another way to receive punishment short of having points tacked on your license. I believe there is a smaller penalty for "failure to obey traffic control device" speed limit sign, that may get you only 2 points.

Try an insanity plea. You will have to sell it by acting completely bonkers.

They may take away your license and put you in a hospital for observation for a month or two, but at least you are not likely to get points on your license.

DUI while 19 MPH over? Its a mandatory 6 month license suspension. There're not going to go easy on you for drinking over the limit let alone going 19 over the limit. I mean, you must of been really hammered to be over the limit.

Be polite, there really isn't much else to say. You shouldn't even have to say anything, your attorney will do all the talking. They'll suspend your license and you'll have to pay a fine. Stay clean and you'll get your license back in six months, hopefully.
