If you've got mandrake up and running I wouldn't get rid of it unless you really just want to check out caldera for the heck of it. all linux distributions are the same once you peel away a few layers of distro-added junk. You can update your mandrake distro (or any other distro) to any setup you want. If you want a feature included with one distro, you can get it by adding it manually. For example I'm using Slackware Linux but with the Reiser Journaling File System, which normally only comes with SuSE, but with just a little work you can get it to work on virtually any distro.
