Definitely go for the business major, you're solid middle-manager material.

The other night I attempted to download a recently released game, but did not complete the download.

I know how I'm going to be lectured in this thread about how what I'm doing is illegal, wrong, unethical, kills kittens in soviet russia, etc. But does anyone have suggestions about what to tell my hall director that will get me out of this? Should I buy the game in question and claim I wanted a backup copy? Format my HD? Claim one of my roomates went on my computer? I'd like some ideas here.
1. Change your major to Business or pre-law, since they match your ethics.
2. Buy kneepads and offer the hall director sexual favors since that matches your morals. If necessary, performs additional favors for other school officials
3. If you're too physically unappealing for step (2) to be practical, attempt to offer money instead. $100 in cash should be sufficient for the hall director, but other school personnel might require as much as $200 -$500.

Yeah do that a day before you have the meeting. Keep the receipt and return it after the meeting. Take it with you to show that you were backing it up.

Not honest but if it saves your a$$, go for it.

Will this actually save his azz? I thought that while downloading files with a torrent client you send parts of the file that you've already received. So while you might be entitled to a backup of software you own, you are not entitled to share it with others...

You're a moron. Why would you risk getting kicked out of college (which they should do if you are stupid enough to try this again) for a video game?

I really don't care if people pirate games or download free music. But you just aren't a very bright person. I'm surprised you got into the university to begin with

Whatever you do, don't be a man and own up to it. You may have to take some lumps that'd give you some character.

Next time just download porn. Sadly that is the safest thing (in terms of copyright infringement) to download nowadays.

only download/upload torrents of games/stuff where the .rars are labeled like alr-jde.rar
downloading/uploading jade.empire.xbox.release.rar will get you caught.
buy a $10 wireless router and claim you left it unsecured, you dont know who accessed it!

Here's an interesting thought...BE HONEST ABOUT IT! I would think that if you were honest to the hall director that he'd respect you more(and probably let you off the hook) than if you lied about it and got caught. Take responsibility for your actions!

Tell them the hobos were using your wireless connection without your permission. :)
Tell them you don't know what they were talking about. When confronted with any facts, change topic, come up with theories, etc.
And above all, act like you are the victim. Tell them how you are upset your connection was cut off, and you need it to do HW, etc.
You know the drill ;)
