Installation? 😕

Went down to the store and talked to the manager. He said he wants to fix the problem, but they were really busy and two guys didnt show up today. I saw how busy they were. He is gonna call me tomorrow, which works out well since I have the day off.

If you don't hear from them by noon tomorrow, go in again.

Center caps are only $20-30 at your dealership. If the guys at Firestone don't do anything, just pick one up yourself.

Did I have to purchase the car at the dealership or will any dealership do?

Forgive my noobness to the car world.

I regularly buy center caps (as well as any other kind of part) from dealerships.

True, some are only $20. However, I have come across ones that cost well over $75 each - on an American car too.

If he is getting his brakes checked at a shop, chances are that centercap is going to be an additional $30-60 in labor.

$20-30 is optomistic for a lot of today's center caps.

Never, not once, seen that as a labor charge. Never.

Typical shop rate for a "catch-all"kind of shop is about $60/hour. If you're hitting Porsche or BMW or other super-specialty shops it climbs into the $90/hr and up range. Firestone will be $60/hour at most. At most they could try to charge 0.1 hour for putting the cap back on. That's $6.00. I've never seen a shop (even a dealer) that would charge for something like that though.

Either you're going to your dealer with "Bend me over and don't use vasaline." tattooed on your forehead or, well, I can't think of another reason you've been screwed that badly on prices.

center cap isn't much. but factory rims aren't.. well atleast for cars.. for your truck i guess they do sorta look cheap.

It's not his duty to notice everything at the time he picks it up.. A week later is reasonable.

It depends on how well you talk, but it shouldn't be too hard to convince the manager to pay for the parts you need. The middle part of rims can be ordered from a dealership - and, most repair shops get huge discounts at the dealership. So, if he doesn't wanna pay for it straight up, you could probby convince him to go half and half - and then never go there for repair again.

Yeah actually it usually is your personal responsibility to check before you go. Usually places like that make you sign something when you pick the car saying that the car is in the same state that you brought it here in, and that the work was done.

The only people working were two mechanics who said they couldn't do anything about it because they couldn't find the peices. The manager was not working. Its been a week and I havent done anything about it, so I'm gonna go down in person today and talk to a manager, but it has been a week. Do you think its too late? What is a reasonable thing to ask for? New rims on all four tires?

Those aren't rims genius. Those are centercaps.

Edit-Why the hell would they replace all four centercaps when there are only two missing? 😕

Maybe I took the car to Firestone in the first place because I dont much about cars?

Thanks for the info, but you dont have to be such an ass.

Some have a minimum labor charge of 1/2 hour... you'd hope they'd waive it for something so simple, but VW tried to charge my wife $40 for something like that.

I am the manager.

Come by Monday and I will personally take the remaining two center caps off so that all the wheels match.

Problems solved. Thats why I am the manager.

#1 I said I don't use dealerships.

come to South Florida, I have no idea what kind of place you live in but here no one touches a car for less than a full hour labor. That is $60 on average here.

You are a retard if you think a shop would R&R a center cap for $6 if that was the only labor they were doing.

Gotta come to my defense here. I had no idea if you could order parts like these. So as far as I knew that was the only option.

You're first mistake was to take it to Firestone. The ones around here are the biggest crooks in the universe. They have more complaints against them then you can shake a stick at. Sounds like the same thing there.

Get a real mechanic and stay away from places like Firestone.

Actually to get this brake job done I went to two different places to get estimates. One was a local guy who said it would be $320 for all four brakes. I went to Firestone where they gave me an estimated of $160 for all four brakes. They also said the front brakes were actually fine, just a bit noisy.

Sure.. they underbid the other guy on the job... but I bet you they made reccomendations for several other things...

How much did you actually pay when you picked the car up? Be honest...

Honestly, I did not tell them I had gone anywhere else. I came in and told them I thought all four brakes needed to be looked at. They did an inspection, called me and said only the rear brakes need to be replaced; the front brakes are fine, but they do squeak a tiny bit. So I had them replace all four. They said they did a general inspection afterwards and found nothing else wrong with the car. I paid $160 + tax. Seems to be decent to me.

It's not unreasonable. There are a lot of parts that you can't buy just pieces of.
