Got around to playin Doom3, and boy that game is long...

I got myself a new computer back in late novemeber and have been catchin up on the fps shooters that I missed out on with my old 1 ghz. I thought farcry was awesome (even though the voice acting sucked) and half life 2 was very good. It only took me 2 weeks to beat halflife 2, and took about 3-4 weeks to beat farcry. I like farcry the best cause I liked the jungle environment and guriella warfare concept of the game, plus you fought against humans most of the time.

However, doom 3 is a long a$$ game. I started playing back in december, and just got past the delta labs! I think I can only play doom 3 for like 45 minutes max cause it gets a little too repetitve, this is the game in a nutshell: "Hey cool, armor in a tight corridor"<grab armor> "whoa a couple imps jumped out the walls let me kill them" <kills imps, then gets hit in the back> "Oh, another imp behind me" <kill imp>. Repeat. Hell was pretty cool though, and I like the soul cube better than the cheesy "souped up" gravity gun at the end of HL2.

I think I want to beat the game just to say I did cause I loved doom 1 and 2 when I was younger, if this was just a new game out on the market I would have stopped in the middle of alpha labs I think.

Up next on the list: Deus Ex "Invisible War", and Painkiller.

I only played like 15 minutes at a time and still beat it within a week. Still haven't beaten HL2 or Painkiller 🙁

Any FPS game is long to me, given my pace. 😛 As it turned out, I finished HL2 fastest, followed by Doom3, and finally Far Cry. However, FC is the first one I got hold of, then D3, and finally HL2.

Felt the same about D3, but did finally manage to beat it. I've only played the demo of Painkiller, but it was pretty fun. I see it for like ~$16 most places, so I might go ahead and pick it up one day. Same with FC - the demo was ok, but not enough to make me want to pay full price for the game.

I just can't shell out that $50+ for HL2 yet. WoWx2 is eating all (and then some) of my gaming budget. 😉

Same here, I am so cautious it takes me forever to finish any level. I've had this game since like September 2004 and I'm only now to the Communications Transfer. This is only about halfway through. Part of my slow progress is because this game scares the hell out of me and I play for limited periods, partly because my gaming time has been monopolized by WoW.

However, I am starting to be more aware of the complaints about this game. I am beginning to get tired of the spawning, and the darkness is out of control. Yes, I could use a mod to add a flashlight to the guns, but it feels like cheating and I vowed not to use anything like that when I started.

I need to finish D3 because HL 2 and FC are waiting.

Dont even bother with DX:IW. Spector really took the console nose-dive with that one. DX and early Theif series were great, but since Spector is now in the business of making console games, and craptastic PC ports of them, I will no longer buy any game that Spector has had his grubby little hands on...

I wouldn't be that harsh, but DX:IW deffinitely took a massive hit for being a console port instead of a true pc title.

You should have played DX: IW first... after playing Farcry, D3, PK, you're going to find the graphics in DX: IW to be pathetic... i know i did.
