Got AOL CDs ???

Don't know about you guys but I constantly get a cd from aol.

Now here's a huge waste of resources, sending millions of CDs to folks who don't want them and never asked for them. Most are immediately thrown away. To be even more wasteful, AOL is now sending them out packaged inside little metal boxes. But there is an easy way to show AOL that you don't want their garbage, and to divert these items from our landfills.

When these good folks get a million orphaned AOL CDs, they will deliver them in person to AOL headquarters. Just to put it in perspective, a million unwanted AOL CDs stacked up would be about three times as tall as New York's Empire State Building.

try 4 a month... i have one under my sister's name (who actually put that damn cd into the computer)....
one sent to the "resident" and two from former residents or some crap that aol pulled out to send out more cds...

they stopped... i usually keep those dvd style cases... but they started sending those tin cans... then they stopped altogether. oh well.

Whats so hard about throwing it in the trash? I read AOL's statement about the situation and they said go right ahead. They're not stopping.

it's not about throwing it away...it's about all the waste it's producing....
and if you went to nomoreaolcds.com .... you'll see what they're planning to do with the cds once they reach 1 million.

just imagine one day when you'll walk to the park and it's full of aol cds... not good!

1 Million cds ain't sh!t...ill be surprised if it makes it onto tv...aol is just gonna brush it off.

I doubt parks will fill up with AOL cds, maybe the billions upon billions of tons of garbage and the 3 lbs of AOL cds.. Woopty doo.

i know it may seem that way, but that is how AOL started out

they used to send out the AOL floppy disks with free hours, that is how they got started and it worked, where during that same time, Compuserve and the other online services were trying to sell thier software for $20-$30 , not even counting HOURLY fees

now in today's environment, maybe they could change the strategy, but sometimes companies just do what they have done in the past

The amazing part to me is that I have gotten a bunch of these and their isn't a local access number for 50 miles, you would think they would at least target people who has local access.

You would be amazed at how many people get this in their mailbox and sign up! This is their form of income. They need people who don't know better to pop that CD into their computer and sign up.

i don't mind getting the aol cd's. they make great skeets for me to shoot!

I take the DVD cases, throw out the contents. CC used to have a bunch of those, took about 5 everytime I went in there. Perfect DVD cases.
