I got a few things.

sailboat I drew in preschool
No idea why I have this hanging up.

old revision PSX and copy of Wipe'Out"
The greatest fantasy racing game of all time.

crap on the high shelf
Lego model (uh, "interpretation") of Arial Tetsuo's Auricom F3600 vehicle, my weapon of choice. Also some Binomes and game boxes.

crap on the slightly less high shelf
Animatrix DVD, Sony Clunker headphones (got 'em on clearance), and a Saavedro action figure. ($1 from "Deal$", badass!)

puter in a box
Core Linux. Small, humble Half-Life/CS server. If anyone would be interested in helping me properly test it before I bring it to school, I have Half-Life deathmatch, CS1.3, and CS1.5 on there. I don't think it can handle Natural Selection.

If you have things within 15 feet of you that you don't expect anyone else would have, what is it? Pictures where possible, people, especially if it's something embarrassing like a half-eaten bratwurst in a low grade condom on a plate with some assorted cheeses. Mmm.

I have everything on my desk. From earplugs to a 40 amp 12v power supply to a lava lamp to a magic 8 ball to a hand carved hatian statue to airplane tickets to solder flux to a paddle ball thing to CAD drawings to an empty Quicken box to an Nu-80 four pin rectifier tube to a pair of my boxer shorts to..... (Tired of typing)

My desk is always a mess.

Bad idea. I tried it once. Came home drunk and microwaved a six pack of Bud light. The only things left to do were to pop popcorn in the toilet and take a dump in the fridge, and I wasn't goin that far.

I have a penny that was minted off center, an arrow that I found in my old neighborhood when I was kid about 15 years ago, and a photo of a min pin that looks like a feral animal.

I have an alligator tooth that I've had forever, a Matchbox bulldozer that I've had since I was probably six or seven, and a small piece of the Berlin Wall from a friend who was there when it came down.

These are all tucked back into shelf on my desk and I see them every day, but I pretty much forgot about them until now.

(I also have a pretty junky camera sitting around too :))

Killbat, I see you're at UMR. I'm from Pa. but I worked there for two summers in the AN/EX lab about 10 years ago during its initial development. Do they still use the AN/EX program there?

Anyone else got a hunting knife with a 13" blade sitting on their desk?

I have a few knives within easy reach, never know when someone might try to use my computer. ;)

I got this at Netgear for free last week :D

yep, 48 100Mbps + 2 Gbps ports :D
Close up
It was used for testing/benchmarking I think and all of the ports work including the console port (I made a null-modem serial cable and I was able to access the managing area for the switch)

I also have one of these that I got for cheap at an auction a while ago

Canon RE-350 Video Visualizer (large picture of it-I didn't take the picture though)

I have 'em out because I plan on selling them this coming week

nope, I just hadn't been able to cut my fingernails for a long time (I was at this thing in San Jose for 10 days, and I don't remember last time I had cut them), but I went on a site visit to Netgear and there was a bunch of stuff that they were going to give away anywas, which the rest of the people there (including myself) raided before we left (with permission). I took that picture in the hotel room while I was still there, and when I got back home, I cut my fingernails nice and short (I don't like the bumpyness of fingernails when you bite them)

So, the hand is mine :p
