put something in your hand (something that won't cut you, of course) ... like keys (though be careful with them) ... or something ... and your hit will be much harder ... also, if the person doesn't look really strong, hit him in the stomach as hard as you can ... and then hit with your elbow in his back (disclaimer: you can damage his spine like this ... so , be very careful if you know this person) ...then the stomach hit doesn't work, hit him in the nose, or somewhre in the face ... and start hitting him everywhere while he tries to feel his nose ...also, the hit in the knee is a good one ...as was mentioned before, the element of the suprise is the best tactic......
if you don't really want to hurt him, take his arm , and like twist it behind his back, then throw him on the ground
I mean you absolutely no offense, but all the real threats you'll face--as a person who isn't yet good at fighting--will come from people who are better at fighting than you are. First, you don't want to sucker punch somebody. Second, most of the above won't really work with somebody who has his wits about him. Your best bet is to get good at a classical form of fighting--and as a student of the books i read and a guy with whom i spar, i can't recommend boxing highly enough--and then you'll be able to do well against any opponent. There are no "secret weapons" shy of those that'll land you in jail in a streetfight.
I should also add as a second thought that i can't fathom a time when a sucker punch would be a reasonable thing to do; i would never ever hit somebody unless he took a swing first, and still then I'd try to avoid it. You never want to take the first swing for legal (among other) reasons and you never, ever want to screw somebody up because he said something dumb.
and i sound like i'm preaching, and i don't mean to sound like i'm preaching, but i thought i might as well say it.
