I gave up on putting money into my Roth as it now makes sense for me to put my money elsewhere. The account only has a few thousand so I waant to essentially bet it all on a flier so if I get lucky, I will have enough to actively pay attention too and manage. As it is, I have the money in a safe value stock paying a fat dividend. I love stocks like this, but I have plenty in my other accounts, so I am looking for something a bit riskier.

Requirements:

no OTC or other BS stocks.
Must be a "real" company
Must have something compelling to make me want to invest in it.

Any thoughts?

On a related note, my other current big bet is on a company called Viacell, but I don't want to put more money into it at the moment so I am looking for some inspriration from ATOT.

Here is an excellent stock tip - never take stock tips. Invest in what you know, research, have a clearly designed investing strategy. Spend some time on sites like Fool.Com, it is actually not hard once you get the basics down.

Thanks for the advice, but I already know all that. I am simply looking for some leads to research. I have never gotten anywhere running stock screeners. My best investments have been from tips and/or news articles that have led me to research more and subsequently invest.

It's kind of similar to seeing a bunch of kids with the same jeans on and buying stock in the clothing manufacturer...

I've been doing really well in the past couple of months on a few good ones.

CNX
GG
HEES (recent IPO, but really kicking, and excellent growth the past couple of years revenue wise)

AZ and BHP have been good slow ones, steady, and TY is a closed-end fund that trading at under 90% of what the underlying shares are acutally worth. Management could be better on it, but it's a good long term with a decent dividend.

No, but my comfort level lies with the larger exchanges...

Thanks for the leads. After a few click-throughs on related news articles on MSN.com, I found a good candidate for me: TINY

It's a publicaly traded VC company focused on nano-technology. If my due diligence says go for it, I am going to park my money in a few hundred shares and pray for little tiny rain drops... :D

I used to do that, but I wised up and became a contrarian. Suprisingly, the opposite approach makes a lot more money!

Have heard of that before, does look decent and interesting. Looks a bit bumpy, but like a decent time to buy. And in things like nano-tech, it just takes one or two really good breakthroughs to make something shoot up like crazy.

Like I said, invest in what you know. My three biggest winners over the last five years have been stocks I bought after being blown away by a product I bought then deciding to invest after doing background and research.

I bought Choicepoint and Viacell for similar reasons.
