I have actually two of those here and I need to put some server OS to put on them. Currently they are running on some ancient version of AIX which I dont have the login or password for. What would you recomend?

more current version of aix.
i do not think you can load anything else on them.
if you can then i'd suggest linux, red hat enterprise should support the hardware needs.
thats pretty awesome to have at home.

You can run Linux or NT4 server or AIX. If your familiar with Linux, go for it. Otherwise might wanna try and get a hold of NT4 server copy...

found out that the nt4 cd I have, a select cd, has a ppc version on it
found out the ibm server didnt want to boot up from the cd
found out I need some arc boot disk to get it to work
found out the arc boot disk only caused the computer to freeze
found out the debian boot disk only caused the computer to constantly try to read the cd drive, didnt have the debian image, could have been searching for it
found three original boxes for some version of aix in the basement, two of them unopened, putting the cd in the drive, booting up the computer and somefrenchword it worked and started to install

now I need to find out how to compltely wipe the hd so there is no chance of recovering the data, any ideas?

and hs, I'm fine now :D
