Got an LG Dare today

I've never been big on cell phones but this thing is pretty damn cool!

Unfortunately, I get no signal here at home with it so I can't friggin activate it!!!
My work phone (moto v3m) doesn't usually get any signal either though.

I can't seem to get my motorola 550 BT headset to work with it though.

Edit: NM about the BT. It's working now. For some reason I had to turn off the BT on my work phone, just turning off the phone wasn't enough.

Does some other provider provide a signal at your home? If so you might want to switch...

not really. I guess cingular/att or whatever they are called now might get a better signal at my house but they don't get good signal on my way to/from work, which is really where I need it to work.


i guess you don't need to activate with your new phone. i called on a land line and it activated it that way and then i was able to get enough signal (still no bars) to get a call through to the *228 number. Also did the roaming update but that didn't help any.

ok, anyone know what type of USB cable the Dare uses? I've looked at a few pics of the different types of cables. It looks like it might be a mini-a or a mini-b but it doesn't look exactly like those.

I want to get a longer cable for charging.

Micro USB I got one with a car and 110v charger on flea bay and it works great at only around $10.00 for everything.

My gf wants either the Dare or BB Pearl, but doesn't want to pay the $30/mo for BIS. She also doesn't want to pay the $400 for a phone (we are adding her to my account and she doesn't get any kind of discount )

well, the Dare doesn't require a data service. I got my Dare for $100 because of the verizon online discount and my new every 2 plan.

If you add her to your plan, disgruntledvirus, you should get the 2 year pricing. Which, for the Dare is $249.99 w/$50 MIR. Only the BBerry requires the data plan, and I think the basic BB internet price is 15 not 30, but I could be wrong.

Edit: Pontifex, my Dare's USB cable has a "B" on the micro end - maybe a Micro B cable?

here is a link to the chargers/cable I purchased the they all work well the same seller has the cable separately as well I would imagine. It is the same cable as the newer Motorola phones use and you can get it at Best Buy but it was around $15 just for the cable.

Posting from my Dare. not the easiest thing to use. a stylus (or pen) is almost required unless you really zoom in.
