Got an infection? No antibiotics?

This kind of thing is especially effective in treating a wound exposed to antibiotic resistant bacteria, as the are eaten by the maggots instead of poisoned.

Natures little wound cleaner. Leeches are still commonly used following limb replacement surgery. (well appendages like fingers, thought I'd clear that up)

Edit: Works now.

If people get over the fact that there is something crawling on you, maggots work like no other. Bacteria can't exactly adapt to being eaten, and the healthy flesh is unharmed. Whats' the downside, after you get over the fact that there are larvae feasting on your infection? I'd do it.

I can't wait to hear about another breakthrough from British medics.

How about using leeches to ease off high blood pressure?
Don't have to go to the dirty hospital anymore - just pick some leeches in your pond!
