3dmarkSe 2001

Look decent ?

Soft9800 Pro is applied. Latest DX9A, Catlalyst 3.2, latest nforce 2 drivers without SW

Texture preference and minimap is set to high quality in Direct 3d. In open gl only minimap is set to high quality. Texture preference is set to quality. I am gussing defaults

I know that 3dmark isn't everything, I am just making sure my card is running on par... as I did upgrade from a Gefroce 4 and tried my best to remove its drivers without having to reinstall windows...

About to crank up the AF/AA settings and enjoy this 9700 Pro, wait 9800 pro :D

You are CPU and RAM limited.

Looks good!

That was fast btw, didn't you just order it? :)

Anyways, I get 16,107 before I did the softmod, I'll run it later and see how it affects it. My CPU is running at 2380MHz and 196FSB at cas2-5-2-2-1T though, so thats probably where the difference is. Your fillrate, dot3/environmental bump mapping, and shader scores are higher than mine, which is proof the softmod is working.

Also, the biggest benefits you'll see are at higher resolutions (over 1024) with AA and AF. You basically get quality AF instead of performance AF w/out any penalty.

chizow, thanks to your PM I called my local Circuit City about an ATI Retail 9700 Pro... they were out of stock... but BestBuy had them in stock for $299 ( $325 after tax )..... An OEM card is ~$300 at newegg and I would have to waited till middle of next week....

btw, can you post a link to your 3dmark thanks

8269 with 6XAA/16XAF

That looks good. Try an XP 2100 Tbred-B and OC it to 2700. Then you also get a faster FSB. :D

Sorry for my ignorance.

There was a special leaked driver that forces the Radeon 9700 (I think it works for 9500's also) to use the Radeon 9800 driver path. It will be officially used in the Catalyst 3.3 drivers.

I used Rivatuner, which has a script to "hack" drivers to 9800 Pro....

1. Download the drivers from ATi. ( i used 3.02 )
2. Have winrar (or similar) installed and right click the drivers, unpack them.
3. Go to the folder where you unpacked the drivers in a pomt window: then type "expand ati2mtag.sy_ ati2mtag.sys. (Open the promt by typing "cmd" into Run in the startmenu.) Delete ati2mtag.sy_ after you've unpacked.
4. Use RivaTuner to hack ati2mtag.sys
5. Browse to the folder with the ati2mtag.sys file in a promt windows. Type "makecab ati2mtag.sys ati2mtag.sy_".
6. Install the drivers by clicking Setup in the driver folder like you would normally.

I did the above, but I would recommend manually installing the drivers. After running the setup and restarting, I had a 9700 Pro still. I updated the drivers, chose which driver to install, have disk and pointed to where I expanded the drivers. Show all hardware and chose a 9800 Pro....

Smooth Vision 2.1 is shown in the control panel and now 9800 Pro is listed as my device

Does this work for any operating system? Which are you running?

I used Wizzards 9800 softmod instead of rivatuner, works great, i notice a slight 80-100 pt increase only. BTW im using a 9500NP(gotta love em) and card is clocked 340/290.
