Got an ABIT NF7-S V2, is stock monitoring software sufficient?

I have been using "winbond" v. 2.70 and want to know about how accurate is this program (or the sensors on this board)? I do not think I have really any heat problems (oc'ed 2700+ (200x11) idel temps: CPU 41C and system: 24C. My vCore is around 1.75 and I am using a thermaltake Sk-7 with a 70mm TMD fan. My stress temps when using prime95 go up to about CPU: 51C system: 26C. Anyway, I basically want to know if what I am getting from this program is in the ballpark of what the actual cpu temp is.

Thanks!

any abit board will read temps higher than they really are....

okay maybe not any but MOST abit boards read higher than what is actually displayed...

Ok when you say they read higher than actually displayed, you mean the temp of the cpu core is hotter than what is desplayed, or vice versa?

Most often they err high, that is to say they indicate a temperature that is higher than the actual temperature.

Actually the Winbond program gives out accurate temperature readings. Abit boards before the KT400 chipset had really inacurate temperature readings.

Depends on the board, and the bios revision you're using on said board.

The NF7-S had a few bios revisions during it's life, they were reading REALLY, REALLY low for a couple of them, from consumer complaints that the overheat alarm kept going off (even on stock setups)

The latest 2.0 (?) release seems like it might be a little high, only real way to check is use a thermoresistor next to the (top) core, or use a board that reads the temperature diode on the cpu itself (seems like EpOx was doing this for a while, not sure now)

Have you tried the Nvidia system utility for temp readings? Not sure if it's more accurate than the other temp sensors but is made for the nforce ultra boards. Or is the utility on the stock disk now as it wasn't before.
