i was coming around a sharp curve on sepulveda, and i didn't see the traffic light. there was a car in front of me -- and it had ran the red light too -- so the camera took a pict of that car. i saw a flash, and i got confused, but by the time i saw the traffic light, it was too late. sucks.

They keep putting up more and more of those photo lights in los angeles. Sorta makes you drive a lot differently then before. You really have to pay attention to where they are and as you approach them get ready to stop fast or gun it as the light changes.

Well, I think that's the desired effect--you know, to get you to STOP at stoplights. Imagine that. Stopping at a stoplight. What a concept!

edit: People are just bad drivers. On a multilane road with a stoplight, I had a guy pull out and pass me when he realized that I was gonna stop for the light. I stopped. He was behind me when the light changed to amber, and he passed me and went through the light.

How could you not see a traffic light? Pay your fine, and be thankful that you didn't hit anything.

The fine might be steep but I don't think it can go against your insurance since they cannot really prove who was driving.

I haven't paid a traffic ticket yet!! Here is what you do:

1) Fight it and request a court appearance
2) Call in and delay the meeting
3) Call in and delay the meeting again
...
...
...
45) Call in and delay the meeting one last time.
46) You will eventually get a letter saying the ticket will be dropped because they officer could not appear in court at the specified time.

Ohhh wait a minute, if this was a camera that caught you, I guess you can't fake it out? Hmmmm, nevermind you're screwed! Look at it this way, you have kewl picture of your driving your car now! ;)

This works in Michigan.

Send in the payment plus $1.00. Since you over paid, the clerk will issue you a refund check for $1.00. When the check arrives in the mail, throw it away. The transaction will not be complete untill you cash the check, and since you threw it away it will never be complete.

You paid the fine but there will be no points added to your license.

The overpaying method has been proven as a urban legend. You are only making the local municipality richer by doing it. In NYC, there are no pints assessed against the driver since there is no way to prove who was driving. The fine is assessed against the owner and it is up to him to pay or force the person who was driving to pony up the cash.

Find out if there is a way to obtain the pictures. If the pictures do not clearly show who was driving the car at the time, I think the ticket will be dropped if you contest it.

Outersquare, with the intersection cameras, it doesn't matter who's driving. The owner of the car gets the ticked.

This is why the infraction doesn't go on your insurance.

Here, the fine is $50.

I say, good idea! Too many people are running red lights. I've almost been killed by some of these morons. Any way to make them stop is a good idea.

go to court, plead guilty, ask for traffic school and reduced fine.
worked for me, but it was my first time and i plead for reason of reduced fine on that i 'm a student w/ limited income (that was true) and first time getting ticket too...
