Damn first time in my life. I didn't see it at all. 100% my fault and I intend to tell the judge that. The officer said I was so polite that he intends to tell the judge to ignore the ticket. I've got zero excuse. I just didn't see the light and ran it because I was lost. My fault!

May 28th I believe. The officer actually told me to plead innocent since I had nothing on my record.

Right then why write it? Get a lawyer and they dump it to a parking ticket. Easy one phone call, about $300, and no points which saves on insurance. I used to get about 6 tickets a year communted sometimes 150-250 miles a day working banquents/going to school in SLO/SB and LA counties..Time was of essence.

I ran a red light last week :Q

I was first in line, a car pulls up on my right to turn right. I notice him hardly stop so I just pull out thinkin' the light changed. Needless to say a semi was comin' from the right side to turn the way I was headin', wasn't really a close call since the semi was goin very slow since it was comin down hill and makin a sharp turn.

In my defense, it was rainin so bad the wipers were at full speed and barely holdin the water back. My bad tho :)

You can see the light through the rain. That's why it shines. ;)

I'm not sure how pleading innocent then telling the judge it's all your fault is going to work.

gluck.

if it's your first time, and the cop shows up in your favor, you'll probably be put on probation. no tickets during the probationary period and it's off your record. at least that's what happened my first time.

From all the ticket threads recently, I'd almost think this was a parody.

Good job to you taking it like a man though :)

Polite? How can anyone not be polite. Cop pulls you over, asks for license, hand it over, and that is all. What do other people do, argue with the cop or something?

So if you are going to plead innocent, then you are going to tell the judge it was your fault?

My first speeding ticket I had reduced to "Taken under advisement". What that meant was, if I was ticket free for x months (six in my case), then it wouldn't go on my record. I ended up paying the same amount of money to the court as court costs, but no points and no record.

Yes, thats exactly what other people do. Tell the cop he is a asshole, and that he ought to be out getting real criminals. All of a sudden instead of a warning or 1 ticket, they 30 minutes sitting on the side of the road and get a complete car search, and as many tickets as the cop can think of.

Just offer to go to traffic/defensive driving school, they will pop you for court costs and a 90 probationary period. No big deal.

Why is a judge involved ? Don't you just plead guilty and pay thru US Mail ? Polite means nothing... I'm always polite to the cops and they still give me the ticket... even though they say "I wouldn't worry about it" ... I'm not about to go through all the trouble to avoid charges when I did do something wrong.

I know what you mean. I've run like 3 red lights in my life. It always happens when I'm in a new area or too excited about something. I've been lucky that has been is small residential areas otherwise I would be dead by now. I doubt they'll let you off the hook tho.
