Got a speeding ticket in PA, will I get points on my CA Driver License?

Sorry guys, it's another speeding ticket question, i did a search but i cannot find someone else who's in my scenario.

I got a speeding ticket for going 76 mph on a 55 mph Interstate highway in Pennsylvania. Now do I mail the payment to their DMV and be done with the whole ordeal? or will I get point(s) in my California License? if so, where will I do my traffic school? in PA (i doubt it)

Yes, you pay whoever you have to pay in PA.

And, yes you will get a point on your CA license. If you do traffic school, you have to do it in PA.

I know from experience in Utah and Kansas.

Actually it depends if PA shares the info.... for instance SC does NOT share speeding tickets with GA. You pay in SC but GA never finds out.

lol. Of course you get points. Do you think that laws don't apply when you commit a crime in another state?

People in PA drive slower. If you go above 70 mph on the highway, you are asking for a ticket!

No, each state is different...

yeah, i'm originally from Michigan, and their speed limit there is 70 mph. So doing 76 mph isn't much over.

it kinda sux though, they setup speed traps right before the state of Ohio. I saw 6 cars that got pulled over after I did.

oh well.. lesson learned. So I just gotta call the Pennsylvania DMV and see if they share the info.

Or should I just pay the ticket and call my CA DMV later to see if they have it on my record? like someone mentioned, not all the states passed the points along.

Does the word 'federalism' mean anything to you?

DMV general question dialoge form
I once received a speeder in SC and it never showed up on my CA Drivers License.
There is a "convention" that some states have signed onto. Because SC wasn't a signer, I was compelled to pay right then and there.

Not all states have reciprocity. DC (yes, I know it's not a state) didn't the last time I got a ticket there. Neither did WV.

So the answer is - it depends.

For what it's worth, PA doesn't have any type of traffic school (for speeding tickets at least).

Before I would have said yes... now I have no idea. My girlfriend got a speeding ticket in Indiana a few years ago and did some research and found out that something like 46 out of 50 states were all in a big group that shared info with each other. Her ticket did get reported to New Jersey. Since then I've gotten a speeding ticket in Ohio (75 in a 65) and a "disregarding a stop sign" ticket in Indiana (I didn't disregard it, I just didn't FULLY regard it...) - neither showed up on my New Jersey license. Indiana, Ohio, and NJ were all on the list of states that share info with each other. So in summary... it's a crap shoot. :)
