Hope this is OK to post in this forum. Might be considered a good deal by some. I ordered a Soundblaster Live MP3 5.1 from Staples about two weeks ago for $99.98. Added some paper clips to go over $100.00 and used a $30 off coupon and, of course, got free shipping.

Got a call from a CSR about three days afterwards. Said the MP3 5.1 was out of stock. I was on vacation at the time and out of town so I waited till I got back on Saturday to call. Talked to a fairly nice CSR who told me they could send me an MP3 from another warehouse but it would take awhile. I said OK, do it.

Today the delivery guy shows up and hands me a Soundblaster Live X-Gamer 5.1! $69.98!

seeing that the lowest price on pricewatch (at least in my search) was $74 (then you have to add $10 shipping), so this is a very good deal! Thanks!

<edit> hahaha, ok, now i get it after reading your original post again... you ordered the MP3 5.1, which is SKU# 443649, and then they delivered a X-Gamer 5.1. Cool. There is no listing of the X-Gamer on Staples.com that I could find

It's a great deal, but if we order a mp3 5.1 what are the chances that we too will get the x-gamer 5.1 instead?

I prefer the gamer because I can sell the games it comes with on that famous auction site to recoup some of the cost of the card itself.

nippyjun; I don't have a clue as to what you will get if you order the MP3 5.1. That's the problem! The CSR never mentioned the X-Gamer 5.1 at all. It isn't even showing at their web site and this is the interesting part. Apparently, Staples(at least some Staples)does have the X-Gamer 5.1! The trick is how do you make sure you are going to get it when you order!

I can't even tell you where mine came from because the CSR said they were going to have to go to another warehouse to get it. Who knows where? Wish I could be more help. Maybe some phone calls will solve the mystery. It could be that Staples just started getting the X-Gamer 5.1 and hasn't updated their website yet.

Hmmm. I guess this isn't getting through the way I intended.

Let me clarify a few things. I know that Staples does not 'officially' sell the X-Gamer 5.1. I know their website lists the X-Gamer non5.1 for sale. I ordered the MP3 5.1. I got a call saying they could not ship me the MP3 5.1 because it was out of stock. When I called back, they said they could get me an MP3 5.1from another warehouse or store but it would take more than the usual (one day?)time to ship it. I told them OK. When the package arrived today, it was an X-Gamer 5.1. I don't know where they got it, if they have more, or if they are getting more. I just know what I got. I'm :)!

It's got four full version games with it. I've already got U/T. Are the other games any good? I'm really not a gamer per se, but I like to play them sometimes.

On the funny side, before I could call the CSR back, they shipped the other part of the order. I received a 12X10X6 inch box with a small box of paper clips inside. Total on the invoice: 58 cents. Free shipping. Got that a week ago when I was still on vacation. My wife and I were out of town. Called home one evening to talk to my son. He tells me; "Dad, are you crazy. Why did you order one box of paper clips?"

until Staples.com actually sells the X-Gamer 5.1, this belongs in brag & moan.

I agree with manly.. its a Brag n Moan subject... 1 in 1000 or less of a chance of getting the item is not a deal!
