Sold my GS500F and picked this up yesterday. I know this board isn't a stranger to model.

This bike is AMAZINGLY STOCK. Older guy owned, not ridden much. 5000 miles. Once i got it home, i had to raise the shifter higher. The pegs stick out more then i like, because my feet get snagged on it. Maybe i'm not used to it compared to my GS500f. 1st and 2nd gear throttle is a little jerky for me. Gotta get used to it.

I have no ideas about mods, but i do know it had motolights. Rethal grips and some bar-end grips. Brand new pilot power and its running amsoil.

What are some common mods people do to it? I just wanted to keep my eyes out for them. I plan to keep it the way it is till the end of the month.

Congrats on the purchase...

A common mod (on almost every bike I've seen) is to get rid of the stock rear fender. Some buy aftermarket kits, others just saw it off. That, and getting rid of the stock end can (which is usually quite heavy).

Another thing you could do is get extra heavy bar end weights (if you want to reduce the buzz/vibes you feel through the handlebars)

For SV specifics mods, will let Jules/other SV owners opine.

My old gs the guy hack sawed it off for me.

I only rode it 40 miles home but I didn't feel much vibe with that rethal grip and whatever bar end was on it.
Not registered and plated.

I pulled the bar end off on accident and had trouble getting it back in cause it doesn't thread into anything. I think it just expands in the bar.

Slip on muffler, I like the M4 personally. Upgrade the suspension. Kawasaki ZX14 rear shock bolts right on with no modifications but it is fairly highly sprung so if you're a light rider it might be too stiff. Front end can be improved with Race Tech springs and emulators or you can swap out an entire GSXR front end. I preferred bar end mirrors to the stock elbow viewing devices.

You'll get used to the throttle. It has a lot of engine braking when you roll off the throttle, you just need to ride it and adapt.

The Pilot Power is a great tire for that bike. I went through 3 sets of them on mine.

Congrats! Nice ride!

Oh, and check out SVRider.com. I still post on there from time to time. It's a very active board, just don't post stupid threads like what's the best way to run from the cops or how do I pull wheelies.

Edit-This is what it looks like with M4, fender eliminator and bar end mirrors. This is my old bike. I sold it back in August of last year. Great bike and plenty quick.

Yea. My old gs I didn't roll off too much. I need to adjust to this bike a lot for a overall smooth ride.

I'm about a 175# Guy. Think that zx shock will work for me. Rarely will I do a twoup with 100-135# extra

Think first on my list is frame sliders. Got any advice on those?

Nice sv, I see you got a newer black framed one.

Had. I sold it back in August shortly after I bought my new bike.

As for frame sliders, Motosliders are highly regarded. I'd recommend them.

Never did a build thread. My mods were ongoing when I owned it so there was never any period where I wasn't riding it. Mods were something I did myself on the weekends.

^messaged.

Its already a good deal. My old gs with state farm was $405 yearly and now my sv is $356 with nationwide. Full coverage.

Sadly it cost me $169 for t/t/l
