got a Q9400, thinking about a i5-750..

hi,

seriously intels page can only compare the core i series, they don't let you compare older processors with newer ones, that's seems dumb to me?

where can i compare a Q9400 with an i5-750?

i very much doubt if i'll ever get a sli/xfire setup, so thats why i'm plumping for the core i5-750, but if you got any better ideas, i'm all ears!

B: There's really no point in buying an i5 anything right now, Sandy Bridge will be out with a new socket, higher performance, and more features at the same price in 10 days.

Comparison, Q9400 is slower by a decent amount but its still a good performer. I wouldnt bother upgrading until after sandy bridge comes out, even then i might still wait a bit as like i said Q9400 is still good.

If you have a Q9400 you can hold out until LGA 2011 that comes out later this year.

wait. no point in a platform upgrade until at least SB comes out. your pc is great anyway, so you really dont need anything better

Benchmarks like the ones listed on an earlier post will give you a better idea on how the change of architecture impact performance in software.

i got a 5850, which is no slouch!

i've managed to get to 850 core
