got a problem with video card here

ok here the specs 1600xp new gigabyte mobo 512 pc2700 and a 9600 pro. installed the drivers no prob, but i try to play a 3d game, like leisure suit larry. all i get a black screen,, and then comes back to the desktop, same happens with 3d mark03 and aqua mark, i just pulled the video card out of my old system and it was workin fine. i tried with fast writes off and on. what could be the problem?

run "dxdiag" and see if the 3d test passes. If so, check your dx version. If not, run a program called "dirver cleaner" and follow the instructions to remove your drivers. Then dl the latest drivers and install them.

Try the card on a different machine, see how it works out. Since you have never oc'ed it, it should be in good condition as it's only a year old.

I would suppose it worked just fine in his other computer...

you guys wanna know something weird....i got the 3d games to work, but only if i have the agp speed set to off, it will not work with 4x or 8x. what the hell is the problem?

So your card is working only on PCI speed? Seems like a BIOS problem, download your latest motherboard's BIOS and flash it, then set the AGP speed in your BIOS to 8x
Hope that helps.

I have the lastest bios for the board. And when i set it to 8x i keep on getting vpu recovery, and when its on 4x that doesnt happen, but i dont get to run 3d games or apps. motherboard is this....motherboard

That could be a problem....the problems you're having seem to be very PSU related. AGP 4x and 8x use higher voltages than AGP off, right? So therefore, that could mean the PSU is the problem. I'd try putting the PSU from you're other system in and then try 🙂

Hope this helps!

I wouldn't be so sure, I have a 350W Antec PSU and I have had absolutely no problems with it, and my system's not a budget machine either.
