i have a 60 gig ibm as my primary, and a 40 gig maxtor as my secondary. i may have to format my IBM. If my IBM is my primary hard drive and i boot off the win2k cd, and format the whole drive, will my maxtor get affected at all? i have basically everything on that thing.

if you are not sure, why not take out the maxtor and do the clean installation on the ibm and put it back after.
anyway it should not have problems, because they are not in the same drive.

I recommend disconnecting any other HD's that you don't want to format. Just have the PC shut down, and disconnect the IDE cable going to other HD's you so you don't accidently format them in error.

as long as you don't select the maxtor drive and format it, all your data will still be there. win2k will recognize the drive as having an existing ntfs (or fat) volume and let you use it just like you did before you reinstalled.
