So yesterday was Ash wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Just curious who else here celebrated and what, if anything, people are giving up or taking on?

This year I'm taking on some extra time to study Scripture because it's something that I allow to fall aside too often and I want to put more effort into it.

Btw that makes sense now why I saw people walk around yesterday with black blotches on their forehead Didn't realize exactly what that was the start of

My boss had a blotch of black on her forehead and I was pretty confused about it too until she mentioned that it was Ash Weds.

I think your case is more like allergy. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't mind eating pork once in a while if you didn't throw up everytime you sniff it.

When I was in high school I got into an accident in front of the school. Three ladies got out of the car that cut in front of me causing me to hit them. They all had the ash mark on their forehead. I immediately thought, "Oh fvck! What did I do to them!" :laugh: It took a minute for it to register that it was Ash Wednesday.

Years ago when I was a youngster in the military (read: a little heathen, uneducated at religious holidays) My Lieutenant had the black blotch on his forehead for Ash Wednesday and not knowing what it was, I told him "Uh Sir, you have some sh*t on your forehead there..." He kinda rolled his eyes and explained to me that it was Ash Wednesday and it was meant to be there. I just walked away.

But I think I'll give up alcohol for Lent.

I'm giving up video games this year. Gonna try to focus more on my interpersonal skills. Talk to more chicks, hang out places, be less reclusive. Went back to Church last Sunday, and even read the Bible a bit... Will continue with Church + Bible reading, and avoiding video games.

QFT....I get into reading the Bible more, then don't touch it for weeks. I'm going to try and finish the Old Testament this Lent.

I had a test yesterday and I wasn't feeling well, I didn't even realize it was Ash wednesday till I saw a poster in the hall at college
