got a phone call regarding "home equity line of credit".... solicitor?

a lady called asking for my mom, so i immediately thought it to be some BS solicitor. i asked who it was and she said she is calling from the mortgage company. i figured it might be important if the mortgage company was calling, but since i did not know when my mom would be home, i asked if i could take a number and have my mom call them. so i grab a pen and paper and ask for the number and what the call was for. the lady says it was regarding "home equity line of credit". at this point... i'm like "what?" i asked if this was for my mom's current mortgage for the current house. i don't think she gave me a straight answer and just repeated that it was for a "home equity line of credit" and told me that she is calling from countrywide, which i do believe is my mom's mortgage company. however, i am not sure if this is a BS sales call, or if it really has anything to with my mom's mortgage. u guys think this is a BS call? i just felt like the lady didn't answer my question and was beating around the bush. bleh.

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but it's probably none of your business. You should deliver the message to your mom. If she's getting a line of credit and wanted you to know about it, she would have told you about it.

It may be a sales call, but if it is your mom can choose to ignore it.

I am not yet a parent, but I imagine that when I have kids old enough to answer the phone and take messages, I won't want them grilling people who are calling the house about my finances.

Again, this isn't meant to be disrespectful to you, just my point of view.

For someone with 24 thousand posts, you'd think he would know how to make sentances and paragraphs.

i'm so disappointed because someone on the internet criticized my grammar.

i know what you're saying. the only reason i am doing that is because we still get a of solicitors calling. i was just wondering if it was a BS call which i know my mom won't care for. sometimes it's pretty easy to tell if it is a BS call or not, such as when some long distance phone company calls.

I find it ironic that they couldn't even be bothered to spell sentences right while complaining about it.

I find it amusing you dont know what the word ironic means. Even moreso because you used it to criticize my complaining.

seriously, you should stop. or at least go back and really think about what pingspike said before replying again. if you still fail to understand his point, just ask.

It's a soliciting call. I used to get those all the time until I put my number on the national do not call list. I still get about 20 letters a week in the mail for refinancing or home equity lines of credit.

They called me too, except the person who called me was a guy. But here is the real kicker. I don't have a mortgage.:Q

Every time they call my caller ID says the number is from Florida. Also I hear this is how they get peoples information. They call asking about your "home equity line of credit" but for them to "check" your mortgage they need you to give them your personal information. Such as SS# and all that good stuff.

Pretty much it is a BS call.
