Hi Cheapster,

I would actually wonder why you would want to remove your verified status, which does offer a fair amount of protection for domestic charge backs, and replace it with a credit card?

I was screwed by paypal the other day on an eb@y auction. They paid me the 350bucks, paypal deposited to my account. Then i get the email saying its a fraudulant card AFTER i sent the product out. I really dont get why a store can see a bad CC right away but these guys took a few days?

Now im screwed because it was the Indonesia scam (and im so surprised I fell for it. what a sucker...). They paid via paypal, "ship it to my uncle in indonesia. ill pay shipping", and by the time idiots at Paypal see its a bad card then youve already shipped it out.

So now it says my balance is -347 or whatever. Theyre still keeping the commision they made off of the bogus transaction???? Has anyone gone through fighting paypal before because i need help.

Edit: Wow, paypaldamon! That actually is a good customer service thing to see. A paypal rep helping people out on anandtech? Give me a hint on my situation. Am i screwed completely?

Hi emonkey,

Sorry to hear about your issues, but if you shipped overseas you are at a disadvantage and will probably lose the reversal appeal (I would, however, like the details on the transaction sent to my attention at damon@paypal.com).

Please use discretion when dealing with overseas transactions. There is a possibility of a stolen credit card being used if it is from Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, the Ukraine, (I am not saying all transactions on auction sites will have this, but it is best to use caution). The list of approved countries for PayPal use can be found on the web site--you will notice that these countries are excluded.

Hi,

A little off-topic, but I was wondering if any of you noticed the logo difference today?

Hi Croton,

Reply to the email with the information they are looking for, but I would remind you that not following the parameters of the Seller Protection Program can have you liable for the charge back.

Regards,
Damon

Hi shiznut123,

How can we suck your money? Just curious...from the terms of use-

Receipt of Payments; Risk of Reversal of Transactions; Collection of Funds you owe PayPal. When you receive a payment through the Service, unless you follow the steps necessary to qualify for our Seller Protection Policy described in Part IV of this User Agreement, you are not protected against a subsequent reversal of the transaction. In the event that the sender?s transaction is reversed for any reason and you do not qualify for the Seller Protection Policy for that transaction, you will owe PayPal for the amount of the reversed transaction plus any fees imposed on PayPal as a result of the reversal. Examples of such a reversal include, but are not limited to, a credit card charge-back by the sender of the payment, and a reversal of the transaction because the sender of the payment was using a stolen credit card or unauthorized checking account. PayPal will seek to recover the funds from you by debiting your PayPal balance and, if there are not sufficient funds in your PayPal balance, PayPal reserves the right to collect your debt to PayPal by any other legal means. You authorize PayPal to charge your credit card or debit card in the amount of any debt to PayPal. You authorize PayPal to obtain a credit report on you in the event that you incur a debt to PayPal.

You didn't see the little Valentine's hearts? Check it out. Coming down by tomorrow, but we thought we would try to throw people in the Valentine's mood.
