I just picked up a new Epox nforce2 motherboard and AMD setup and have set it all up. I haven't really dealt with AMD systems in a while, but it's happily running my 1700+ at 1700mhz with a 200mhz bus (got some corsair ddr400 cas2 ram, too).
Anyway, everything's great except my CD burner. It burns fine, but while its burning, it really laggs the system down. Mouse movement is slow, web pages are slow, typing is slow. In Nero, the cd rom buffer level moves up and down as low as 10% when it used to always stay at 98% or so.
It's a cheap cd recorder - one of the non lite-on cendyne drives. I'm using basically the same software setup as on my old P3 system. It does this overclocked or not. Windows 2000.
It's not a huge problem. I'm just wondering if this is normal for amd or nforce2 systems.
