I got this windshield in august 2006.

When I first got the new windshield, I noticed that at the bottom of the windshield, there was some distortion. I didn't think much of it (I'm usually looking right in front of me, not at the bottom of the windshield) until I sat in the passenger seat of my car last night.

Here is an image to try to show you the problem...(just a random image from google image)

Imagine looking at the back of a car and seeing the rear bumper stretched to fill in the shape I've drawn as opposed to what the bumper actually looks like.

I don't think I've seen any distortion like this in any other car I've ever been in.

The reciept I have says that the windshield is "warrated against manufacturing defects" for as long as I own the vehicle.

Is this normal?

Welcome to the wonderful world of low quality goods. Windshields are about 1/8" thinner than they used to be so they get cracks and stone chips at a much higher frequency than cars of yesterday and I also see more and more with a distortion in them from poor quality control.

No... not normal. But good luck getting anything done after 8 months.

This is the kind of thing you need to report right away.
