Does anyone know what this stuff is?

do you use live? if so - its necessary.

If you got a new pc - simple, rip the oem cert and magic jelly bean the product key, get a technet install for the same o/s and the drivers, install clean, install the oem cert and activate the slic using your product key and you will have a balls-clean machine. it is what i do and it is 100% LEGAL.

could you reiterate that please? something about magic and slic and balls? 😵

Massive bloatware emboldened.

I'm not a programmer and know nothing about C++. I do have .NET installed and use that for a specific program. I have no idea if the two are related. Can I remove Microsoft Visual C++ and all of it's updates without having an effect on .NET or any other program? Is it solely for writing and creating applications?

Steam the only one that seems to need it? I don't use Steam...so no worry from me there. Was it easy to reinstall? Just a download from windows update i'm sure, right?

Pando Media Booster --- P2P Downloader, for example turbine's mmo use it to download the initial install files

Microsoft Sync -- part of the live essentials, helps with photo gallery and messenger upload files to your live account / skydrive iirc

Microsoft Visual C++ -- sure this is not a runtime? if so it probably needed for something that is installed.

If you actually mean Visual C++, that's quite large. If you mean the VC redist runtime, then that's tiny, and you need it for many apps.

Apparently my antivirus (Avira) needs Visual C++ because it stopped working when I restarted. Had to download the install file again and repair it. it reinstalled one component of Visual C++ and it's working fine again now. Why it needs it, I have no idea.
