Got a new MP3 player...

edro

Lifer
MPIO FL100 @ Bestbuy for like $129.

This thing is freakin sweet! I also bought another 128mb SD card for it.

It gets better FM reception than my car and it doesn't even have an antenna! (well, at least not an external one)

Anyone else have cool MP3 players? What music do you prefer? 😀

I have a Panny MP3/CD Player. I can't make it skip, and it drains batterys very, very slowly.

Yeah, that's another thing. It only uses a single AAA battery! I have 8 AAA 1200mAH NiMh batteries, so that oughtta keep it goin for a while 😀

According to someone at the forums on the MPIO site, you can only upgrade to a 256MB SD card. Is that true? What happens if you put in a 512?

I dunno.... but I can't see how people need 5-20gb iPods... I have ~50 MP3s on it now, and that is a TON! I am mainly gonna use it at the gym, so all I really need is about 90 minutes of music. I still can't believe the FM reception. Stations that come in very staticy(is that a word) on our main home audio tuner with the huge antenna, come in crystal clear on this thing and it doesn't even have an antenna!

How does that work?!?!

Ummm... the only thing I have that uses AAA is my DVD player remote and my new MP3 player... sooo... no thanks 😀

congrats on that purchase man, i just got a new mp3 player myself (nitrus... also very sweet as well). about that antenna thing.. dude, you headphones work as the antenna 🙂

Looks very nice and small!

Yeah, the Nitrus is really cool too. I just got a Karma...Rio has really improved the quality of their products!

yeah, I would have gotten the karma, but 1.5 gig is just about what i need (i am just using it to work out), plus its a bit smaller than the karma, and the price. i just need to find a pair of earbuds that can actually stay in my ear. the ones that came with it are pretty good (mx300), but there is almost no bass to it unless i jam it in the ear, thats cool with me and all, but the second i remove my hands, the bass is gone. I am thinking about getting the sony ex71's. they look pretty promising.

I believe this (and other walkman/cd/mp3 type players) use your headphones as an antenna.

EDIT: Also, like you, I never understood how people could "need" an iPod. I used to own (well, I still own it) a nomad II with 128 mbs of space. I used it at mostly at the gym, like you, and always thought it was more than enough.

Then, I got a 15 gb 3rd gen ipod... I've never looked back. It is amazing to have access to almost any song in my collection at any time. I never realized all the different types of music I'd want to listen to while working out until I got this thing. And on long bike rides (2-3+ hours), it kicks my nomads ass.

That's a pretty nice player, even without a hard drive. Right now I have an Irock 520 upgraded to 128mb of memory, and I was going to get a Neuros 20gb until my main PC's broke.

Yeah, I've noticed that the bass isn't too hot with the senns that came with the karma. I think I'm going to drop some $$ on some shure e2c's. I'm just concerned that they'll block too much external sound and I'll get hit by a car or something when I'm walking around manhattan. :Q

i bought one off Ebay.
However the play time for mine is a lot less than the 11 hours stated in the box.
Maybe my rechargeable batteries are crap?

nice i used to have it too but it just didn't hold enough music for my tates so I got an iPod. It does eat the AAA batteries tho, have they improved the software that came with it?

The software hasn't screwed up on me yet, but I have only used it a few times. The original Duracell battery that came with it, still works. I have listened to it for a few days (prolly 5 hours total). I have 4x DynaCharge 750mAh NiMH batteries, but I haven't tested them out yet.
