A couple days ago, my old Samsung monitor died. It was a 23" 1920x1080.

Today at Costco I was going to purchase the T24C550ND, a 24 inch 1080p TV/Monitor.
I also was looking at this TV, the JVC EM32T. The display is a good size, but it lacked in resolution.
I ended up purchasing the HP 27xi. It is a 27" IPS 1920x1080 display. The main downsides so far after use is that it has no speakers or a headphone jack.

These were the only displays that were worth the price. The HP was only $200 and is much larger than the Samsung 24".

I haven't calibrated it yet, but it was very easy setting up and I really like the backlit settings keys.

TV/Monitor speakers are always trash. Anything lower than 1080p is utterly pointless.

A guy at the office has a couple slightly smaller versions of that HP. It is a great looking display. I wish I had gotten one. I bought an Asus last year, and it is OK, but I can never get the colors quite right.

I just tried calibrating it and this has been the most accurate display out of the box I've ever gotten. I'm impressed so far; just wish I could play Xbox 360 out of the box without an adapter. I really think HP designed it well. The bezels are much smaller compared to the old monitor I had.

I also tried overclocking it using EVGA Pixel Clock (built into EVGA Precision), and it could do 70hz max before artifacting. Keeping it at 60hz for the meantime...

I'm mostly a PC gamer, but Halo 4, GTA V, and Forza 4 are making it hard to make the full transition. This is not the monitor to get if you're someone like me. I love the screen real estate but it sucks that I can't get audio for my Xbox 360 without an adapter.

Once the adapter comes, I think I will really like this monitor.

Hi ZGR,

I'm thinking on buying a 27xi, but I'm a bit concerned since I cannot find reports for 27xi overclock besides yours. My goal is 72Hz at least (3x24p) so just want to confirm if your tried it using the nvidia/CRU also?

I was able to bet 72hz on mine, but it's at 60hz right now. Going to 73hz causes a black screen. Not the best.

thanks for the reply ZGR, soz to post on your profile (not enough privileges to send pms yet :/)

did you tried with all programs or only with EVGA precision tool? At 72Hz do you see any artifacts? why do you use 60hz then?

thanks in advance ;)

:cool:ZGR, in my humble opinion, if YOU are happy with the new monitor then you made the right choice. I'm sure someone will criticize your choice but it's what you see that matters. Have fun with it.

nothing to criticize here, cause AH-IPS will be far superior in color accuracy and pixel response VS a modern AMVA+ panel for instance....and I guess ppl using TNs these days are crazy ones, just preferring 120hz over picture quality/angles/etc

Im in the market for a new screen, 1440p/1600p (content first, gaming secondary)... But the oncoming 4K revolution is holding me back..

Unfounded fear or reasonable tactic?

I'm currently using this Pavilion 27xi monitor and have been very satisfied to it.
I also overclocked it to 74Hz and have had OC for 6 months now with no problems.
