Got a new Monitor. Have some questions. Also this a good deal?

My ol 19" LCD died after 3 years. Well a capacitor went out. I might try replacing it.

However it was a good enough excuse to get a bigger Monitor so I picked up a 27" LCD-LED Samsung S27A350H. Seems pretty cool got it on sale for $309 plus Tax.

What setting on my Monitor & ATI card should I tweak for the best display. What's gimmick & what's worth tweaking?


As far as 3D I think it's a mess right now and would rather wait till Glasses free hits the 27" & up screens. I know it's a wait but I really am not worried. Just don't care to have to wear & recharge glasses or lose half the screen resolution without batteries. Just too much of a mess right now. IMO.

So many features on various models and such. I think I picked a good Monitor. I mean would local dimming be worth it? I don't think this one does it?

Anyways as far as Monitor use goes. I mainly play co-op games with friends. Not really the latest and greatest frag fests. More of a casual gamer.

Best thing to do is buy a calibrator. Only thing I set was brightness and contrast for my ZR24W, the Spyder did the rest.

I will keep that under consideration thanks.

For response time it has Normal, Fast & Fastest. I assume Fastest, why would I choose anything less?

This a good Monitor or should I keep looking?

Should my Monitors sharpness be left at the default of 60 or set to 0?

I know for TVs setting the Sharpness to 0 usually removes the fake edge enhancement.

I heard some monitors have to be set to like 40 to be 0.

ATI settings have Pixel format. I assume it should be on full RGB?

On the ATI video settings should Dynamic Contrast be ticked?

Also why does the Dynamic Contrast settings on the Monitor lock me out of other settings?
