I had an ASUS G75VW that I hated because it had a matte screen the colors looked washed out and not vibrant at all. So I called the ASUS Service Center and asked them if they can hook me up with a Glossy screen which they agreed and they even sent the Aramex courier free of charge to collect my laptop.

After a few failed attempts to get the 3D/Glossy screen to work with my laptop's motherboard, they gave up and put my old screen back only to discover that they have fried my motherboard.

They offered me a replacement ASUS G70JX-4128H which also had a matte screen but with the upgraded GeForce 770M + i7 Haswell CPU FOR FREE or gave me the choice to pay $400 USD more and get the 3D/Glossy screen version of the G750JX-CV050H which has 24 GB RAM (as opposed to 16 GB on the 4128H) + an SSD/HDD combo so I paid the difference and I am glad that I did, this new 3D/Glossy screen is a night and day difference!!

Thanks for ASUS for this nice gesture and good customer service I basically got a free upgrade after using my previous laptop for 358 days as I had sent it in just a week before the warranty expiry date!

It came pre-installed with Windows 8 which I have tried many times before and know my way around getting it to look and function like Windows 7 but I hated a few things about it like how it handles folder sharing and it's fuxored up UAC which can only be turned completely off with a registry edit; so I quickly wiped all the partitions and got rid of that junk and installed Windows 7 Pro FTW! :D

This is the fastest laptop I've owned so far it's super fast!

Benchmarks (all done with default settings but the Virtual Memory was turned OFF):

I'm glad you're happy with your new laptop. But I have to say putting Windows 7 on a mobile Haswell based machine is a bit of a step backwards. Windows 7 doesn't have native support for any of Haswell's power saving technologies, so by using it you're giving up all the battery life benefits of the platform, which is one of the huge draws of Haswell.

that is true, but the point is, I have my battery disconnected 95% of the time since this is a desktop replacement, I only plug in the battery if I ever have to take the laptop out perhaps to the office or to my mother's place, but other than that, it sets on my desk at home all the time.

on a side note, since you mention the Haswell CPU, anyone who gets a Haswell laptop or desktop need to take note that Haswell requires you to use the newer lower voltage RAM (between 1.28 V and 1.35V) although if you place 1.5V in the system it will work, one would actually be harming his CPU on the long run causing more heat and higher battery drain.

I got this info from a warning post on the ASUS ROG Forums
