I've had the older kitty for several years. We did have two cats, but one had to be put to sleep. The older cat isn't aggresive, and pretty much just sits there when the new cat in introduced. The kitten will hiss and growl, but not attack or come to close to the cat. I think he is just intimated by the size difference.

We only got the kitten last night. I know it will take some time for them to get to know one another, but does anyone have any ideas on ways to get them more friendly quicker?

I just can't wait for some hot kitty on kitty action!

Just leave them be. They will either grow to love each other and play together ... or they will learn to live with and tolerate each other.

They are just going thru the .. Are you a threat?.. stage right now. Some cats get together almost instantly, others a few weeks. But in my experience (got 10 cats right now, and have had dozens and dozens thru my life)... it usually take 4-5 days or so.

:)

oh yea .. Pics?

The kitten may be too old by now to accept your older cat as a friend, and instead sees her as a territorial enemy. However, given time they will learn to live with each other peacefully and possibly become close, but I don't think they will be sleeping in each other's arms.

You'll just have to let it happen. More than likely, your older kitty will be upset for a few days..

If you butter a cat, other cats will lick that cat. This will build good feelings towards one another. I felt my cat, who is the only cat in the household, was suffering from self esteem issues, so in an effort to make him like himself better, I tried out the butter method.
