Got a new email virus attack--facebook

"Open attachment to get password" well I did not join facebook, so it goes in with the ones from DHL, UPS and USPS telling me my package was undeliverable and print out the attachment to bring to their office. Watch out, they are changing tactics to get into your computer.

i thought the number 1 rule of not getting viruses was never click on links or open attachments that come through email

A couple of my users have gotten this, what's really annoying is Postini (i.e. google spam/virus) and nod32 didn't pick it up.

I got it this morn too. None of my users is stupid enough to open it. Nor am I. Nor did the attachment make it past my filter.

What I tell my users is "It's a poor workman who blames his tools." In other words, you KNOW not to click on links in emails, so don't point at the antivirus software as the cause of your virus infection or stolen passwords.

I completely agree. Our spam and virus filtering does a decent job but nothing will catch 100% of anything, particularly in a corp environment where some of the users need a bit lax settings to ensure 0 false positives.

Luckily I've been here long enough to train most of the users up to where they know what not to click on
