My dell started having SATA troubles again so I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet on getting a Core2Duo system. I picked up the HP Media Center system that was on SD the other day. I have to say, the system is packed with stuff, but what I like the most is the personal media slot. It's basically a USB hard drive slot that allows you to easily swap out external hard drives.

I just like the fact that it's built-in and think it's pretty slick in design. I'm sort of impressed by HP. I know I've been buying Dell systems because they're cheaper out the door, but HP has come down in price and you can buy direct from them now. Anyone else have a Media Center from HP?

HP is gaining market share of late while Dell is losing same. Leadership at the top drives a good product. I bought a media center Pavilion laptop for my daughter-in-law last year, and a media center Pavilion desktop for my grand kids last month. Both machines function perfectly even with much use by 4 rug rats. :)

Speaking of HP refurbs, I came across this thing on Newegg last night. Seems like a hell of a good price, but I haven't researched parts since I built this my computer 3 or 4 years ago, so I may be missing something.

Seems like a decent replacement for this aging POS I'm posting from.
