I picked up my new car on Friday :D

It's a 1996 UK Spec Honda Prelude 2.2 VTEC

I've never driven a VTEC car before this (I have driven my mate's FTO with MIVEC), and everyone is right, that kick at just over 5k rpm is AWESOME! There is no real kick that I noticed in the FTO, it's much more pronounced in the Prelude. I'm going to have to adjust my habbits slightly to get used to revving all the way up to 8k though!

I drove this back 220 miles from York to London on Friday, and it didn't miss a beat :) It was definitely worth the 5hr coach trip up there to get it! It's got full service history, oil changes every 6k miles etc, and it really is lovely to drive!

Now for some pics!

Nice Car Confused . I love that generation of prelude , the later ones exterior was screwy to me

I'm going to make a wild stab at this one , but the other cars in the picture are

a ) Peugeot 106
b) Ford KA ?

I haven't look at the interior yet really, I'm too busy driving in VTEC and looking where I'm going! Only thing I have looked at so far is the fuel gauge (and seeing it drop rapidly!) and the rev counter/speedo, which both go up very quickly!

As for mods, I'm *considering* a subtle body-kit, if I can find something that isn't too over the top. I've got a new ECU on the way which should get it up from the stock 180HP to ~200HP (up to JDM spec) and i'm possibly going to free up the breathing with a induction kit and decat exhaust, which should free up a few more HP.

Yeah, this is the best looking Prelude! The 97-01 was weird!

And yeah, that is what those other cars are. Good guess!

Just don't do a fart can and spoiler. Preludes can be some HOTTTTT cars, and look oh so nice, nice buy.

had 2001 'lude when I lived in the States, nice cars, but I wouldn't buy another one - I graduated to turbos :)

Congrats, The European Preludes look a little more classier than the US versions. Please don't make it look like the millions of bubble-blowers we have here in the states. Enjoy.

I have 2 mates with the same model predule as yourself

I know one of them , has basically gone and added a ECU,lighter flywheel , better valvesprings , much better induction and exhaust system with VTEC On/Off Leds on the dash and MUCH better brakes and its just a dream to drive. Forced induction is not the H22's strongpoint , so you'd be batter off with some mildish cams if you want to go faster unless you want to spend some money.I know the Hot Honda Parts arent that easy to find in the UK but you should be able to get some Skunk2 or perhaps even Mugen Cams if need be.

As far as interior goes , I'm not a specialist there but I guess some decent seats , with maybe some white accents and maybe a leather + alloy shifter will make it a bit better place to be in if that really counts

If you get a chip + exhaust done , make sure the people (Wolf Motorsport or whoever) gives you a reading of your torque figure as well as hp figure . That is one of the big complaints when people go to those VTECS and add a too aggressive exhaust to their car , making low down virtually impossible to drive . Make sure your ignition system and fuel injectors are up to the part , when going chipping with a used car . I used to work at my uncles garage , on the dynos and one of the main reasons for underfuelling / dead spots were sucky ignition coils/spark plugs / fuel injectors

Cool car! I like the 97-01s better, but the older gen was still an awesome car none the less.

I hope you enjoy it :).

If you look at my post about 8 posts up ;) you'll see that it's got 180 HP, but I'm getting a new ECU for it soon which should see it approaching 195-200HP

It's got the H22A2 engine, don't think it's the same engine as the Teg.

I paid £1750 for it, which for a UK spec manual is below all other prices i've found for them!
