Don't install an alarm yourself unless you've done it before and know what you're doing. Its not worth the trouble otherwise.

I'd get it installed professionally for sure. Look into Viper, Cliford, DEI, Alpine.. they all have excellent alarms.

should i get an alarm with tracking device or not?

It might be good to get a tracking device installed, but I never pay attention to car alarms anymore, and I'm sure no one else does.

clifford

get it installed from a car stereo place, not best buy circuit city whatever

get it installed in a non normal place (aka not under the dash), ask your installer for suggestions

if buying a clifford, get the following at least: self powered siren, wireless immobilizer

expect to pay 4-6bills for a decent alarm

reason that i didn't get lojack from dealership is because it usually cost much more then if you do it directly thru the company

2)didn't want to add to the price of the car and add to the monthly car payment

3)i know a friend who had lojack and it got stollen maybe 5 min before he reported the car to the cops. The car was never found. So i am not sure if i want to get lojack alarm system. I do know i need some kind of alarm as this car is eather 1 or 2 on the most stolen vehicles list

it's not big...it's only slightly larger than a normal lock/unlock from honda and nissan and whatnot (depending on which remote you have); unless you're one of those people with 3904508435 keys on their keychain; sides, would you settle for a crappier alarm just to have a smaller remote? clifford is the best money can buy

and lojack is worthless; since all the installers put it in the same locations, they just taek it off/disconnect it/whatever

my friend got his civic jacked, when they found it it was completely stripped with the lojack next to the car

//edit//

i have no idea what you're talking about, now that i think of it the remote is barely bigger than the karr alarms that dealers instaall from teh factory, shorter than all their alarm remotes, but alot wider

'sides, it's real carbon fiber, +10hp

oh. you don't want that alarm. and most pager alarm remotes are that big anyway.

//edit//

yeah i just read thru those features, worthless

what you want is something on this chart with those addons i recommended

i think proximity sensors/tilt is pretty worthless, although i have both on my car
