got a HP Photosmart M417 5.2 MP.......now what i want to know from all you camera people here...is this a good camera or not? Seems to be taking decent photos anyway..

shouldn't you ask if it's a good camera BEFORE you purchase it??? Who cares what other people think, if you like the quality of the pics and ease of use, keep it.

Its my first digital camera, and I didnt really know what to look for. What makes a good camera good and whatnot..
It wasnt a planned buy (I'm the WORST compulsive spender I know). If I had been planning on getting one, then of course i would have posted asking for peoples opinions and what they liked..

I tell people to stay away from HP cameras at all costs. Unless you got a really good deal on it, id return it if you still can.

I've found it took decent pics (nude or otherwise ), but the AA batteries died just about hourly and if you didn't use the flash in all shots, regardless of lighting, the pic was off-color and fuzzy. I don't think she got a busted one, because a Google search of the camera model she had (can't remember the model, but it was a 3 MP) came back with several results complaining of the same thing. She got hers in Nov. 04; hopefully they worked out the bugs since then.

Take this man's advice. HP may be ok to start with, but wait 1 year and your photo sensor will be crap. Kodak tends to go that way, too. Next time, read up before you buy something like that.
