So I went down to Guitar Center to look at pedals with no intention of buying. The one I was using was a really crappy one from a cheap generic kit, and it recently broke. Anyway, I tried the pedals on the kits that I saw, most of which were double pedals (I was only looking for a single, but I figured might as well play the right one), including a Flying Dragon, Iron Cobra Jr, and some PDP pedal. I then went over to the little line of pedals they have in front of that bar that allows you to play them, where I tried out a DW5000, DW7000, Iron Cobra, Iron Cobra Jr, Flying Dragon, some other PDP pedal, among others. Of course, they were really expensive (DW7000 single was like $100 I believe). Then the guy was like "We have this Gibraltar pedal back here too, I'll go get it", and I'm thinkin' "great he wants to sell me a $150 pedal". He brings it out and I set it up, and looking at it I'm thinking "Yeah it's gotta be like $150". Then I play it, and it's by FAR the best pedal there for me. I haven't been able to really practice them lately, but I was able to get better, more consistent triple strokes out of that pedal than any of the others. Then I'm thinkin' "ok it's probably $200". So I ask how much it is, and he says "Well it's been used and all, I think it's $30". Sure enough, the sticker on the bottom says $30! "Does it have any kind of warranty?" "30 day return" "....here's my credit card" He said they had the pedal there for maybe a week, and they don't regularly get them; they don't even normally carry Gibraltar stuff, but someone must have traded it in. The thing looked great; the chrome is really shiny lol the only way you can really tell it's old is all the dust on it (and some black smudge on the beater). It didn't say what model it is, but I'm pretty sure it's this one:

After checking prices online, $70~$90 seems to be a pretty normal price for a new one, so $30 for one in such good condition is quite a deal imo, plus it may not be as expensive as the DW5000 or Iron Cobra or whatever, but it feels better to me so that's what counts; I was just so excited that the pedal that happened to fit me best also happened to be the cheapest one in the entire store
Then after GC I went to Wal-Mart to get some stuff, and found some of those crappy $10 Chuck Taylor knock offs. It turns out they have less traction against the pedal than when I just wear a sock! It's like sliding your foot on ice!
