Got a MasterCard from Citibank... and I didn't request it.

So I currently have a Visa with Citibank. Recently I got a MasterCard from them in the mail. I didn't sign up for it so does somebody know if they're doing a transition or something to Mastercards? And will it be bad if I close the account?

My boss received a few credit cards about 2 months ago and it turned out that someone was opening accounts in his name and adding themselves as authorized card users. They had run up over $3000 in debt by the time he received the card. After he placed a fraud alert with the credit agencies, they caught two other attempts to open new cards. Still haven't caught the person responsible.

Sounds like one of the signs of Identiy Theft, check your credit report STAT.

Checked it today. Nothing unusual. Everything's the same as it was when I last checked in September except for the new card with $0 balance.

Did your boss activate the cards? I'm not activating the Mastercard. I simply have no use for it.

No. I'm not sure how they were activated, but they were. Simply not activating it is not the best thing you can do. I would call them and cancel and maybe check your credit report.

Edit: I just saw your above post. Cancel it and just monitor.

You should contact them immediately because they can't send you a card you didn't apply for, but someone may have...
