So a month ago I got an MX700 for a real good price, but it just wasn't up to par. Noticable lag, took time to start tracking after being picked up, movement simply didn't feel right, didn't feel like any other mice, and on top of that, the batteries that came with it were broken.

So I returned it and got a G7. Man oh man, this mouse is good. I really can't believe how good it is, actually. The big feet make movement extremely smooth, much more so than any other mouse I've used. Feels like it's on finely shaved ice. There is no perceivable lag whatsoever; the movement feels almost identical to my Dual Optical that I had used for about 5 years. When its been idling for a while, it starts tracking instantly when you move it. And the weight is perfect. The MX700 was too heavy due to the big batteries, but this one is neither too heavy like the 700 nor too light like many microsoft wired mice I've tried. The finish of the mouse is good too. I would have thought that smooth plastic all around the outside would make it slippery with sweaty palms, but it just makes it grip better.

As for the bad, there's not really much to say. The middle click's a bit hard, lots of resistence on it, and I usually end up pressing scroll left instead. People complain about the lack of a forward button, but the Dual Optical I used for 5 years didn't have one either so I'm not in the habit of using it. Umm, not much else I can say. The color's not really what I would choose for an ideal mouse but whatever!

Highly recommended! It was worth the price! As long as it doesn't break down...

Sounds nice. I plan on picking up a G7 eventually...I use my Forward button a lot but I guess I could get over it. I can notice the slightest bit of lag on my MX700, so it's good to hear that's no longer an issue (plus being able to switch DPI on the fly would be sweet for FPS games..)

Yes, when I first heard the DPI thing I thought "well isn't that the most useless feature ever" but when I used the MX700 I found that I simply could not get used to the DPI, because it made movement feel so different in games, compared to my old mouse, which I suspect always ran at the windows default of 400 dpi.
